Four Seasons Resort Lanai
Hawaii’s Last Unspoiled Island
If you have been to Maui or the Big Island and you are ready for something that feels completely different, Lanai is your answer. This is where people come when they want to disappear from the world for a little while and do it in serious style.
Why Lanai
Lanai is the smallest inhabited island in Hawaiʻi and the least visited, which is exactly the point. There are no traffic lights, no strip malls, no crowds. Just 140 square miles of rugged coastline, red dirt roads, ancient Hawaiian fishponds, and some of the clearest water in the Pacific. Only about one percent of all visitors to Hawaiʻi make it here, and the ones who do rarely want to leave.
Getting to Lanai is part of the experience. You fly in on Lanai Air, a small island shuttle from Honolulu, which takes just minutes but feels like crossing into another world entirely. The resort handles transfers from the moment you land. You will not lift a finger.
Why Four Seasons Lanai
Four Seasons Resort Lanai sits directly above Hulopoʻe Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Hawaiʻi. It is a marine life conservation area, which means the snorkeling right off the beach is extraordinary and spinner dolphins are a regular sight from shore. The resort itself feels intimate compared to its sister properties, with just 213 rooms and suites spread across lush tropical grounds.
The dining here is genuinely special. Nobu Lanai perched above the bay is the showstopper, and having Nobu on an island this remote feels almost surreal. Malibu Farm brings a California coastal ease to breakfast and lunch right on the beach. And One Forty, the resort's steakhouse, sources from local farms and ranches across the island.
Rooms range from garden and ocean view rooms to the Aliʻi Royal Suite which comes with its own ambassador, private cabana, and a Tesla or Jeep for exploring the island. For families or groups, multi-bedroom villas make Lanai feel like your own private Hawaiian retreat.
The activities here go beyond the pool. Horseback riding, archery, sporting clays, snorkel sails, sunset sails, and off-road adventures into the island's interior are all available, and the resort has built packages around all of it. Lanai rewards the curious traveler.
